Howdy, today my book review just happens to be the beloved series, The Penderwicks.
This was a series that my mom read aloud when I was little. But, I recently rediscovered it, and read all four books in about a week and a half. I read the first book in a day! The first book is about a family of four girls and their dad on vacation. The oldest is twelve year old Rosalind, then eleven year old Skye, then ten year old Jane, and last but not least, four year old Batty. Skye first meets Jeffery, the son of the snobby next door neighbor, Ms. Tifton. Together the kids find themselves in all kinds of binds, including Batty almost getting gorged by a bull, Jeffery almost being shipped off to military school, and Rosalind falling in fictional love with young adult landscaper, Cagney. They all had lots of adventures, mishaps, and a few scrapes, but it all wraps up in the end. The Penderwicks, A Summer Tale about Four Sisters, Two Rabbits and One Very Interesting Boy, by Jean Birdsall, is now one of my favorite books. (Note, if you read this book and love it as much as I do, there are four more books that are equally amazing!)
If you have read this book, tell what you thought about it in the comments! Also, write your email in the subscription box below, and get an email when I post new things! Thanks!
I really want to ask about how the four-year-old almost got gorged by a bull, but I don’t think I will. (Hint, Hint)
I love the Penderwicks! What good taste you have! š Thanks for sharing!
